How I Am Connecting My Kids To The Word Of God Through Different Mediums
Each one of my kids gets the connection differently.
We read the story of the Roman soldier who asked Jesus to heal his servant the other night while doing bedtime. My daughters were so wholly wrapped up in the story.
Afterward, they asked questions about what they thought the disciples were like at that moment—and wanted to know if the soldier was happy and if he believed in Jesus, too.
As we discussed these topics, I decided we could watch a clip from The Chosen depicting this story.
Now, before anyone gets up in arms about The Chosen, I think it is a great way to see the stories of the Bible brought to us in real life. No, the Chosen is not the Bible. And yes, the take creative liberties in some stories to fill in gaps.
However, seeing my daughters’ faces when they saw the story played out by actors created a more profound sense of connection for all of us.
Most of all, I realized that seeing things in a different medium connected with them in a new way.
So, today, I want to share that scene with you and let you decide what you think about seeing the Bible played out.
