7 Bible Verses To Pray Before You Go To Sleep At Night
Prepare your spirit, soul, and body with these scriptures.
I recently shared that I have been praying through Bible verses in the morning to help prepare my day and set me on the things of God’s Kingdom.
Well, today, I want to share seven Bible verses I have been praying through before bed. These have helped set up my evenings and my sleep. So, let’s dive into these Bible verses:
"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."
- Psalm 4:8"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"
- Psalm 91:1-2"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." - Psalm 139:23-24
"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." - Proverbs 3:24
"On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings." - Psalm 63:6-7
"He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." - Psalm 121:3-4
Now, another thing I have been doing is praying a declaration prayer. And I wanted to share that with you as well:
“Blessed is this twilight hour, as day yields to night. I am grateful for the experiences and lessons of this day. May peace descend upon me, my loved ones, and all the world. I release the day's burdens and forgive any who have wronged me. As stars appear in the heavens, so may wisdom illuminate my soul. Let my sleep be restful, and my dreams be filled with hope. I entrust my spirit to the Source of all life. May I awaken renewed, ready to sanctify tomorrow with my deeds. Blessed is the One who brings evening, guards us in sleep, and renews us daily. Amen.”
Now, I want to encourage you to take one Bible verse the a night and the declaration prayer and see how your week goes!
