Coffee with Jesus: A Faith Journey
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28
Coffee with Jesus is when you can come to him, dig into the scriptures, and connect with Jesus over the Bible. I believe more Christians need to experience Jesus, and one way we can do that is through a practice I call coffee with Jesus.
After having a series of dreams, I realized that Jesus was calling me to create something that would bring people to him. A resource where you can connect with Jesus and draw closer to him.
This would help you go deeper with God and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. I came across Matthew 11:28 and realized that a valuable way of helping people experience Jesus could be through daily, weekly, and monthly devotionals.
And so, the Coffee with Jesus publication on Substack was born.
What to Expect on Coffee with Jesus
As I started asking Jesus what should be on this publication, he led me to connect with others who could help me define what would come of this space. As such, I believe there are three levels of what you can expect from Coffee with Jesus.
Daily Content with Substack Notes: The content will include a prompt for connecting with Jesus over a Bible verse, quote, or section from a book.
Weekly Content with Email: This will be a more in-depth devotional time on a topic or Bible verse where you can dig deeper into the scriptures to know God, experience Jesus, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Monthly Prayer Guides: Though the paid subscription of this Coffee with Jesus, you can help support the publication and get monthly guides to pray through scripture in your life that will be broken up into topics.
The content here is about helping you grow closer to God, experience Jesus, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we do this, I believe you will begin to have a more profound faith experience and see the world the way God wants you to see it.

Coffee with Jesus from J.R. Heimbigner
My name is J.R. Heimbigner. I came to know Jesus in my early 20s while attending university. During these foundational years, I began to experience a vibrant faith that has grown year after year.
After college, I worked for Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) and then went on to the private sector for work. Since my Cru years, I have led Bible Studies and volunteered with our churches, and now my wife and I lead a home church in eastern Washington state.
We live on a five-acre hobby farm with our three daughters, a German shepherd, a tuxedo cat, and some chickens. God has blessed us with beautiful land, wonderful neighbors, and a fantastic church family.
Lastly, God gave me a dream a few years ago, which led me to change the course of my writing to focus on my faith and helping other people grow in it. Since then, I have written various books, which you can find on Amazon.
